🚵‍♂️ The 21st Lakuntza-Aralar Mountain Race 2026

Organized by Zabalarte Mendi Elkartea, this traditional mountain race takes place in Lakuntza, in the heart of the Basque Country. First held in 1987, the 21st edition in 2026 offers a unique chance to enjoy the stunning landscapes of the Aralar Natural Park.

The routes cross forests, meadows, and mountain trails passing through beautiful spots like Aldaia, Atazar, Guadetxe, Aubigaina, Algorri, and Arangun. The races are semi-self-sufficient with aid stations along the way; participants must bring their own water containers.

• Lakuntza-Aralar 26K – ±26 km · Start 09:30 · 1,200 m elevation gain · 4h cutoff · 200 bibs · Minimum age: 18
• Lakuntza-Aralar 13K – ±13 km · Start 09:30 · 650 m elevation gain · 2.5h cutoff · 170 bibs · Minimum age: 18 (Cadet category 15-16 years)
• Mendi Martxa 13K (non-competitive) – ±13 km · Start 08:30 · 50 bibs · Reverse route of the 13K race

⏰ Schedule

• 08:00-09:00 – Bib pickup (Lakuntza Cultural Center)
• 08:30 – Mendi Martxa 13K start
• 09:30 – Lakuntza-Aralar 26K and 13K start
