🚵 Gran Trail Peñalara 2026 - Challenge the mountains of Sierra de Guadarrama!

The 16th edition of the Gran Trail Peñalara (GTP) is an ultra-distance mountain race organized by the Real Sociedad Española de Alpinismo Peñalara with support from the Navacerrada Town Hall and the Madrid Mountaineering Federation. It will take place on October 9-10, 2026, starting and finishing in Navacerrada, Madrid. Covering approximately 104 km with 10,200 m of accumulated elevation gain, it is one of the most demanding races in the region, offering a unique experience in a protected natural environment.

The course traverses the Sierra de Guadarrama, including iconic points such as Maliciosa, Canto Cochino, Puerto de La Morcuera, Rascafría, Peñalara, and Puerto de Cotos, with varied mountain trail terrain, paths, and some urban sections. The race is semi-self-sufficient, with solid and liquid aid stations where athletes must bring their own drinking container.

🏆 Prizes Trophies for top 3 male and female finishers in each category, and top 5 in the absolute category. Age categories: Absolute (21+), Veterans A (40-49), Veterans B (50-59), Veterans C (60+). Also part of the Madrid Ultra Distance Championship.
