Freedom Run

🏃 Freedom Run 2026 in Chaves 🇵🇹

The Freedom Run is a sporting event organized by the Municipality of Chaves in collaboration with the Vila Real Athletics Association. It takes place on April 25, 2026, starting and finishing at the iconic Alameda do Trajano, offering a unique urban running experience for federated and non-federated athletes alike.

The 10 km urban course is marked with arrows and ribbons to guide participants. There is also a 1 km run for children and a 7 km walk open to all ages, non-competitive. The event features electronic timing and organizational support throughout the race.

🏔️ Races

• 10 km Run – Start 10:00 · For athletes born in 2008 or earlier
• 1 km Run – Start 10:00 · For athletes born in 2014 or earlier
• 7 km Walk – Start 10:00 · Open to all ages, recreational participation

⏰ Schedule

• 08:00 – Registration and kit pickup at the venue
• 10:00 – Race start

• Bib and chip for the 10 km run
• Personal accident and liability insurance
• Participation medal for all finishers

🏆 Prizes

• Cash prizes for top 3 overall male and female (350€, 200€, 150€)
• Trophies and cash prizes for age categories
• €150 prize for the largest team
• €150 participation prize draw among finishers
