🚵 AXARI TRAIL 2026

The AXARI TRAIL is a mountain race held in memory of Mikel Garmendia, a local athlete who passed away in 2008. This edition takes place on September 13, 2026, in Idiazabal, Gipuzkoa, organized by IDIAZABAL KIROL ELKARTEA. Participants will enjoy a spectacular route through the natural parks of Aralar and Aizkorri-Aratz, with unmatched views and the chance to visit the village of Idiazabal, famous for its cheese.

The main course is 25.4 km with +1550 m elevation gain, crossing the mountains of Idiazabal, reaching the highest point at Palankaleku (979 m). There is a shorter variant, AXARI TRAIL TXIKI, 16.4 km with +758 m, mandatory for cadets (15-17 years). Start and finish are at Idiazabal square, with clear marking and six aid stations offering food and drink. The race cutoff is 4 hours, with controls at 9 km and 18.5 km.

• Saturday, September 12: 17:00 - 20:00 — Bib pickup at municipal fronton
• Sunday, September 13:
  • 07:30 - 09:00 — Bib pickup
  • 09:30 — Start of all races
  • After awards ceremony — Popular lunch at the fronton (ticket required)

🎽 Registration includes Bib, runner's bag, liability and accident insurance, six aid stations with food and drink, Kronoak timing system, and access to showers and bag drop.
